It's one of the most beautiful urban parks in the city of Calgary. It's the heart of the most exciting and the largest events and festivals. And it's definitely a great place of escape from the hustles and bustles of the city life. Prince's Island Park really is a place to be.
Prince's Island Park is the urban park in Calgary that is developed on an island on the Bow River. It is immediately located at the north of Downtown Calgary. Named after the founder of the Eau Claire Lumber Mill, Peter Anthony Prince, this park was built on the land donated by the their family. It is commonly accidentally called the "Princess Island Park".
The island park has a surface of 20 hectares and is connected by 3 bridges to Eau Claire, Downtown Calgary and Commemorative Drive and Crescent Heights community. Prince's Island Park is a part of the smashing trail and hiking trail system of the Bow River. A wetland environment can be seen at the eastern end of the island and an attractive landscaped area at the southern arm. Numerous geese and mallard ducks can be seen playing and swimming around the island park.
Prince's Island Park is also the home of the ChevronTexaco Learning Pathway. It's an environmental tutorial pathway on the east end of the park. It winds around a constructed wetland that is designed to treat stormwater before entering back to the Bow River. ChevronTexaco is a fantastic trail that provides an environmental, tutorial and recreational resource for people that connects them with nature in an exceedingly interactive way.
Go there for a picnic, or watch an event. Or perhaps enjoy the river and their many play areas and endless paths. Have a different experience during summer days or winter days. Whatsoever you want to do or would be happy to do, you may certainly find Prince's Island Park a nice home and a great escape in the city.
