Scenic Pictures Of Nature Let The Outside In To Built Environments

By Lynne Bonner

Scenic pictures of nature may include landscapes but may also be distinguished from them. A landscape may a wide and pleasing view of a place with many features seen in perspective. However, a view of a large elephant against a background of bush would not qualify as a landscape but as a picture of nature. scenic pictures of nature

Although some might think that landscaping applies only to painted pictures others will accept that landscape photography is a legitimate art form. However, a wider lens will be required to capture the scope of the scene.

A place where things happen is a scene. In one sense the word is applied to prevailing relationships or conditions, as in 'she caused a scene in the shopping mall'. However, the adjective from the noun is usually applied in in a positive sense to places that are interesting or attractive, as in 'they took the scenic route'.

Pictures, as opposed to images, have an element of composition in them. A photographer might get a pretty girl to sit in the foreground of a mountainous landscape. In this case he will record a picture in which female beauty and natural beauty complement each other.

Nature is a word that has been used for a long time to refer to that which as not been altered or made by mankind. In recent years the word 'environment' has come to be used widely as a synonym for nature, although there is quite a wide difference in the sense of the two words. The former implies unspoilt by mankind and the latter has a greater emphasis on surroundings. One can talk about a 'built environment' but not about a 'built natural city'.

A built environment is often slightly disturbing essentially because it is man made, and often bustling with people and discordances. By contrast, scenic pictures of nature are inclined to have a calming influence. They help to bring tranquility and harmony into lives.
