Toronto as You Don't Know It

By Jamie Sarner

The Distillery District is one of the most popular locations in Toronto, and not only for the numerous filming productions that are regular guests here. This consequential district is the former Gooderham and Worts Distillery and has one of the greatest collections of Victorian-era heritage buildings.

The distillery once belonged among hugest of such districts in the entire world. Today, this National Consequential Site is a preferred area boosting cafs, cafes, and shops that is successfully bringing art, culture, and entertainment into this vivid area in Downtown Toronto.

If you're a big fan of art, you'll appreciate the glass and aluminum design of the entrance to the Royal Ontario Museum and the geometric forms of The Crystal by Daniel Libeskind. Opened in 2007, it surely puts the ROM, Canada's largest museum of world culture and natural history, on the shortlist of Toronto's landmarks.

Union Station is among the busiest commuter train stations, and it lies in the very heart of the Financial District. It's maybe one of the first locations you'll see when arriving in Toronto. With the daily numbers of more than 200,000 passengers served, the station services inter-city trains, GO Transit trains and buses, and the TTC tube and streetcar system. When you're not in a hurry for work, slow down and take another look at the gorgeous arrangement of this station, listed as a State Historic Site.

This beautiful Medieval Castle that goes called "the house on the hill" takes you back in time and lets you meander dreamily around its corridors and along its 98 rooms. Casa Loma might be over a century old, but it will continue to draw large crowds of visitors in every year. If you make a decision to visit the castle, you can explore its secret passageways, 800-foot tunnel, incredible towers, grand staircase, or check out its surprising interiors. Casa Loma belongs to the top filming locations in Toronto, making an appearance in Hollywood smashes such as X-Men, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Chicago and many more.
