Many people are interested in Chincoteague ponies which are phenotypically horses. What makes them different is that they have small stature. They can be in pinto colors or solid colors. These specie also has many different breeds. Physical characteristics would depend on their bloodline.

These horses may be domesticated by people who like to collect breeds. Some are bred in parks or farms where they have all the freedom to roam around freely. They eat fresh grass and drink from the ponds. With this sort of environment, they will be able to adapt to their environment.

Though they may appear tame, these horses are actually wild. Visitors at parks are now allowed to feed or pet them. For private breeders, they are required to register their breeds. This is part of measures which are taken to preserve the specie.

Indeed, this specie is a wonderful product of nature that needs to be taken care of. Some even consider capturing them in their natural habitat. This horse like breed actually make good subjects for photography. A number of enthusiasts are into this activity.

Some enthusiasts go to parks or watch events and take photographs of these horses. Being in the parks or attending events gives people the chance to capture pictures of their chosen subjects. There are also those who like to collect the portraits and display them.

Pony penning is a famous form of entertainment wherein these horses are accompanied by riders in the Assateague Channel. They swim across the channel when the tide is low. Every year, thousands of people witness this event. This has become very popular over the years.

Following the swimming event, chincoteague ponies will be auctioned wherein the money becomes a revenue source for the place. The horses are evaluated to see which ones are good for auction. Most of the herd however will be returned. A lot of people participate in this event which is also a tradition.
